Couples

Families are the backbone of the church: a strong church consists of strong families. Strong families consist of men who love and lead, women who love and serve, and children who love and obey according to the Bible. The family is the primary place of worship, discipleship, counseling, training and evangelism. Families come together biweekly in couples’ ministry to strengthen each other.
Couples’ Ministry is for all couples and their children up to Junior High. Couples and couples with children gather to worship and study, counsel and edify, strengthen and support. Couples and their children first worship together, and then break into separate groups for more intimate instruction and participation.
Couples receive instruction and training in all aspects of spousal relationship including love, intimacy, spiritual growth, communication, conflict resolution, gender roles, finances and spiritual service. Couples also receive instruction and training in all aspects of parental responsibility including evangelizing, mentoring, communicating, educating, training and disciplining children.
Children learn to cultivate a relationship with God alongside their parents from the earliest age.
Mature Grace Church of Sacramento couples rotate teaching and leading discussion with couples and children.

Women’s Ministry

Women learn from their peers and older women. In women’s ministry, women teach, model and encourage other women to be women.
Once every month, all the women of the church, college age and older, meet and exhort each other to be sound in doctrine, sanctified in thought, biblical in motivation, wise in decision, edifying in speech, exemplary in conduct, humble in service, cooperative in teamwork, strong in principle and supportive in relationship. They learn to love their husbands, love their children and to be competent and productive home managers. They learn the biblical priorities of loving God, loving their husbands, training their children and being expert, stay-at-home cost managers and savers of their husband’s income. They learn the dangers of competing with men in the marketplace and developing a 2-income lifestyle. They learn to generate income through saving, cost-management, skill and resource development and income reinvestment.
The women of Grace Church of Sacramento preach from the Bible and study edifying literature in the fellowship of other women. Women teach, exhort, encourage and correct others at numerous Baby and Bridal showers, Birthdays and other special events.
Women teach each other God’s plan and function for all women.

Men’s Ministry

Men learn from peers. Men also learn from older men. In men’s ministry, men teach, model and encourage other men to be men.
Once every month, all the men of the church, college age and older, meet on Saturday morning and exhort each other to be sound in doctrine, sanctified in thought, biblical in motivation, wise in decision, edifying in speech, exemplary in conduct, humble in service, cooperative in teamwork, strong in principle and supportive in relationship.
Men learn the biblical priorities of loving God, loving their wives, loving their children, loving their work and maintaining proper balance. Men learn to be adoring worshippers of God, loving leaders of their wives, encouraging fathers, competent employees and dutiful citizens.
Men learn to enjoy being men.

Jr. / Sr. High Ministry

Jr. and Sr. High School students begin to learn separately from their parents. They no longer attend Sunday school. They attend Friday night Bible study with their peers separate from their parents.

These students continue in the emphases of biblical authority, responsibility and dedication to personal development that Sunday School emphasizes. However, as they take a significant step toward independence, they begin to learn the relative roles of parents, pastors and peers.

Jr. and Sr. High ministry teaches these students that they are still under the authority of their parents. God requires them to submit lovingly to their parents for His glory and their blessing.

Jr. and Sr. High ministry teaches these students that they are under the authority of the church as expressed in the Bible. After their parents, they have the privilege and responsibility of lovingly submitting to the church leadership and serving in the congregation. High school juniors and seniors can receive baptism, communion, church membership and church discipline subject to parental approval.

Jr. and Sr. High ministry teaches these students to reject peer pressure and exercise discernment in making friends. These students are taught to embrace friends who act in accordance with the Bible, parents and pastors and reject so-called friends who do not.

College Ministry

College students must not waste time. They are not free to misuse the independence of more personal time, more personal space, more personal transportation, more personal income and more personal decisions now that they are under less direct parental supervision. They are not ‘on top of the world’ and free to use their resources for personal pride and lust. They are on the bottom of a ladder of ascending responsibility that requires that they work to prepare themselves for marriage and vocation.

College students should have made major advances in their understanding of biblical authority and their dedication to personal responsibility and personal development which are the emphases of Sunday school. They should also have made major advances in accepting the counsel of parents and pastors and exercising discernment in their choice of peers which are the emphases of Jr. and Sr. High ministry. Now, they must refine their character in preparation for marriage, complete their vocational training and learn to apply biblical principles consistently in their future family and in society.

Russian Ministry

The most potent, unifying human activity in the local church is the Sunday morning sermon. Because we live in America, this sermon is in English. Every Sunday morning the entire local body hears this English sermon and unifies doctrinally and practically.
However, many of our church members are of an ethnic persuasion and benefit from discipleship (individual and small group instruction and mentoring) in a language other than English. For these members, Grace Church of Sacramento has regular Bible studies and small groups. These groups have teaching, materials and worship in a non-English language.
Grace Church of Sacramento has Bible studies and small groups in Russian and encourages Bible studies in Spanish, Hindi, Hmong and other languages.
